When unemployment is high, jobs are hard to come by, Hands Up Ministries is putting neighbors to work within their own community. A total of nine people have been given job opportunities, representing six different trades, plumbers, electricia
ns, landscapers, handyman etc. in Highland Park, Richmond. According to JT Matthew ,Co-founder of HUM, “people want to work and it is our society that keeps them from working, most are still paying for behaviors that are long paid by jail time served”. It’s through relationship building and the will of our friends who want to work and improve their lives that will make a community pull itself up, transform and prosper. As HUM grows so will the number of people they employ. In order to sustain a better community one of HUM’s objective is to employ more people within the same community it serves.
